About Course

The Assisted Living Facility Manager Program of the Arizona Institute for Health Sciences is a Board-approved training program for those who aspire to become licensed ALF Managers! The course will provide a comprehensive understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and skills required to manage and operate an assisted living facility.

The AIHS strives to be the center of excellence in health sciences education through its innovative and scholarly curriculum delivered through a blended learning approach. 

The training program includes a minimum of 40 hours of online training in the following areas:

  1.  Resident Services Management
  2. Personnel/Staff Management
  3. Medication Management
  4. Legal Management
  5. Financial Management
  6. Physical Environment Management

The program is designed to be completed within six months. Upon completion of the program, students need to take the Facility Manager Knowledge Exam. Note that you must have a score of 75% or better to pass the knowledge portion of the exam. To know more about the exam, read the complete handbook at Headmaster LLP

After passing the knowledge exam, participants will be eligible to take the NCIA Board's certification exam to become a licensed Assisted Living Facility Manager in the state. To be eligible, candidates must fulfill the application criteria set by the NCIA Board. Complete details and the application form are accessible for download at www.aznciaboard.us. The application requirements consist of the following:

  1. Complete an NCIA Board approved caregiver training program and manager training program under the standards of R4-33-601 and R4-33-701.
  2. High school diploma or G.E.D.
  3. Current CPR card and basic first-aid card.
  4. Document 2080 hours of paid work experience in a health related field within the last five years.
  5. Pass the examination given by the Board, with a score of at least 75%.
  6. Is of good character.
  7. Have a valid fingerprint clearance card.
     

Note: Assisted Living Caregiver Certificate dated on or after August 2013 is required, except if you are presently a Licensed Arizona Nurse (LPN/RN),Doctor (MD/DO),or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Administrator.
