About Course
Arizona Institute for Health Sciences (AIHS) offers a 4-hour Annual Memory-Care Refresher for caregivers, contractors, activity staff, nurses, and supervisors who have already completed the state-approved 8-hour initial dementia program and now need to meet Arizona’s continuing-education requirement for directed-care services under A.A.C. R9-10-122(A)(1)(f).
Delivered in a hybrid format—2 hours self-paced e-learning plus 2 hours live, skills-verification workshop (on-site or virtual)—the refresher reinforces core competencies in managing challenging behaviors, preserving dignity and comfort, preventing and reporting abuse/neglect, and updating individualized service plans (ISP). Participants must score ≥ 75 % on knowledge checks and demonstrate satisfactory performance during a live scenario; safety-related “Unsatisfactory” items trigger remediation and a free re-test within 14 days.
Successful graduates receive an electronic certificate within 10 days, and facilities must retain a copy in the employee file for 24 months.
AIHS applies brain-based instructional design, expert faculty, and state-of-the-art simulation labs to ensure every learner returns to the floor ready to deliver safer, calmer, and more person-centered memory care.
